What is Infertility
Before getting to know what infertility is, please understand the natural conception process first. The infertility treatment is derived from a basic principle to let an egg and sperm achieve fertilization. Understanding the impact factors for natural conception and pregnancy, can make it crystal clear for you about infertility treatment, especially Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART)
Male fertility factor: A key factor is the male gamete or “sperm”; usually during a sexual intercourse a man ejaculates semen, which contains several tens of millions of sperms. Significantly, the male fertility factor is assessed by having normal ejaculation with a normal level of sperm count and motility.
Female fertility factor: A key factor is the female gamete or “egg” and all pelvic organs. The pelvic organs also play an important role to support fertilization and embryo implantation. Generally, at every single menstrual cycle only one mature egg is available to be fertilized by sperm around the midway through the menstrual cycle. Once a mature egg (oocyte) is released from the ovary, fimbriae will sweep an egg to pass through the tube and get fertilized in the tube by a sperm travelling from the vagina and cervix through the uterine cavity. -After the fertilization has occurred the embryo gradually develops cell division and then implants itself into the uterus. At this point, an important part is the endometrium. If the implantation is complete, the pregnancy will occur afterward.
