The NIPT is a non-invasive prenatal screening that detects chromosomal abnormalities in a developing fetus using a simple maternal blood sample. This test is completely safe for both mother and baby, as it poses no risk to the fetus, and provides results with up to 99.9% accuracy.
What Chromosomal Abnormalities Can NIPT Detect?
NIPT can currently screen for Trisomy conditions across all 22 chromosomes. However, the standard test primarily focuses on detecting the most common Trisomies: Trisomy 13 (Patau Syndrome) Trisomy 18 (Edwards Syndrome) Trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome) As well as sex chromosome abnormalities (X, Y)
